Oil capital on the Lysefjord

Are you looking for a city trip combined with breathtaking nature? Book a flight to Stavanger and stroll from the medieval Stavanger Cathedral to the Valberg Tower for a beautiful view of the city. Stavanger is Norway’s oil capital, but also the gateway to the steep mountain walls and waterfalls of the Lysefjord, so you’d better not forget your hiking shoes!

Spectacular views

There’s no shortage of museums in Stavanger. In the Norwegian Petroleum Museum, you can explore the impact oil has had on the city’s rich past and present. Or take a trip down memory lane admiring toys in the Norwegian Children’s Museum. If you’d rather be outside, roam around in the Old Stavanger district among its wooden 19th-century houses, lovely shops and artisan workshops. In summertime, Stavanger stages wonderful concerts and fun festivals, such as the Gladmat Festival, Scandinavia’s largest culinary festival. Stavanger is the ideal destination for weekend holidays, but also as the starting point for a longer vacation in Norway. Treat yourself: book a flight to Stavanger now!

Fjords, rocks and waterfalls

Stavanger’s greatest attraction is just outside the city: Preikestolen, or the Pulpit, a rock towering over 600 metres above the Lysefjord. A climb to the top will be rewarded with a spectacular view! Another extraordinary experience is the Gloppedalsura scree, an area with huge landslide rocks stacked onto each other by the forces of nature during the ice age. Or what about Månafossen, the largest waterfall of the Rogaland region with a 92-metre freefall? A true fairytale!
